Ashton

Unless I behave myself I will get into big trouble...........

A lot has been going on, but I really want to give a kid update right now. The other stuff can wait. Ashton had his five year check up on Monday. He weighs 50 pounds, and is 47 inches tall. Rocky (our Nurse Practitioner), said his body thinks he is six and a half instead of barely five. He is extremely active and strong willed. And contrary. Very VERY contrary. What ever I want him to do (or not do) is the opposite of what he wants. I try to tell myself (or rather my Mom tries to tell me) that these are strong leadership qualities, and they will come in handy later. Right now they are mostly aggravating. He is really bright, and picks everything up. I can't have a phone conversation without him commenting on what I'm saying. I can't spell things, because somehow he knows what I'm saying, even though he can't read. Ditto for pig latin. He likes potty talk, everything is toilet this, and poop that. Sigh. He also likes pajamas. I tell him to go get dressed, and he goes and puts on more PJs. He and Gilbert don't get along that well, but I think if I give it another year or two, they will get along better. Ashton likes to be funny. He makes up stories all the time. The other day he told my friend who picks him up for preschool that he lived on a farm. He also told her he had a big old cup of coffee for breakfast. He knows we don't drink it, so he thinks it's funny to pretend he does. He makes up lots of details to, so if you don't know something isn't true, you might believe him. It's pretty funny, but I REALLY hope he grows out of it. he can be really sweet. He tells Lily he loves her with all his heart. He loves to build with Legos, and that really makes me happy because it keeps him out of trouble. He is really fun, but definitely a challenge.
