Ashton's Birthday

Ashton's 4th birthday was on Saturday. We woke up and headed to the Zoo. It was a little crowded, but not too bad. I'm not really sure how to describe the Zoo in an exciting way, because it really isn't my thing. We went on the Monorail safari, which was pretty fun actually. Probably because we sat and looked at things while someone talked about them. Kinda like TV, so that was fine. You must understand that the Dallas Zoo is VERY hilly, and I had my 25 pound baby on my back (see pictures below). My carrier is pretty comfortable, but still tiring after a while. Also I have been to the Dallas zoo fairly regularly. Also I object to bad smells. Anyway, we only stayed an hour and a half (ahhhh, the joys of having a membership, you don't have to stay for ever to justify paying $25 to get in). Then, I'm sorry to say, we proceeded to a place even more heinous than the Zoo. McDonalds. The one by the zoo is filled with fake Jungle creatures and trees and stuff. It looks pretty cool, other than some of the animals are holding hamburgers and french fries, which I find more than a little disturbing. We went in, and, gulp, ate. Then we let Ashton run around the playplace for a REALLY long time. Then we drove home and Gilbert had a nap. Ashton wanted to open his presents, and was very put out when we wouldn't let him. Clint picked up Ashton's cake, and my Mom and Dad and brothers came over for cake and presents. The pictures below are all from Ashton's Birthday except the one on Ashton holding Gilbert while he drinks his bottle. There is one of Ashton hitting the theing that makes the bell ring, and me and Gilbert and Ashton hitting the bell, and me and Gilbert, and Ashton and Gilbert with the chimp statues, and Ashton's pirate Birthday cake. I think he had a great day, and I can't believe he's 4 already.

My poor little baby got all chewed up by ants yesterday. We were in the front yard, and he walked over to me crying his hurt cry. I looked down, and his sad fat feet were covered in ants. I picked him up and started killing the wretched things. There were a few on his arms as well. Now he has awful angry red welts on his feet and arms. I would take a picture and post it if it wasn't so sad.

Random comments that don't deserve a paragraph:

I broke the button on my garage door opener this morning, and I had to push the little metal thing inside the opener that the button is supposed to trigger. It didn't electrocute me or anything. Yet.

I am going to post pics of the house after I go to Ikea and get a few of the odds and ends I lack.

Ashton thought that a pirate was going to come visit his preschool this morning.

Okay, this one isn't nice, but it was so funny I have to post it anyway. The other day, Clint and I saw this larger than average (okay, not in TX but everywhere else) girl sporting her school's mascot t-shirt. Fine so far right? Well, the back of it had the misfortune to read "I'm Proud to be a Bison." I'll leave it at that.
